Oftentimes, we find ourselves publishing blog posts on behalf of others. For best security practices, you should not share your accounts with others but should instead make an account for each person who needs to manage your website.
Fortunately, WordPress allows us to publish a post on behalf of another user (thus presenting them as the author of the article). To do so, we need to enable the field.
Enabling the Author Field
- Login to your WordPress website
- Navigate to the New Post screen
- At the top right of the screen, click "Screen Options"
- Check the "Author" checkbox
- At the bottom of your editing section, a new "Author" box should be made available. You can use the drop down to select a different author for the post prior to publishing, or you can change the author after publishing
Note: Once you have checked the Author box in the Screen Options, the setting will be retained and the author field should always be available. If it is not, repeat steps three and four.
You can also rearrange the screen, and drag the Author box to a more convenient position (such as to the right of the content body field):
